What if I don’t need more clothes?

We’re not about more. We’re about better. If you already have a closet full of stuff but still feel like you have nothing to wear, that’s the real problem. We help you fill in the gaps with intentional, versatile pieces that make getting dressed easier—so you can stop the cycle of random buys and start building a wardrobe that works. A few right pieces is better than a closet full of maybes.

What if I can find cheaper stuff online?

Of course you can—and most of our clients used to do just that. But those quick buys usually sit in the closet, don’t fit right, or fall apart after a few washes. We help you buy less by choosing better: pieces that fit well, feel good, and actually get worn. That’s what real value looks like. Cheaper isn’t always smarter. We’re here to help you invest in pieces that pay you back in confidence and longevity.

What if I don’t have time to shop for myself?

We get it—between work, kids, and life, most women put themselves last. That’s why we keep things simple. Come in for 30 minutes, shop online in your PJs, or book a styling appointment—however you need it, we make it work. You deserve to feel good in what you wear, and we’ll help you get there without adding more stress to your plate. Shopping shouldn’t feel like a chore. With us, it’s easy, thoughtful, and maybe even fun again.

What if I’ve gained or lost weight and nothing feels good right now?

You’re not alone. So many women come to us during transitions—post-baby, post-job change, post-‘what happened to my body?’ seasons. We’re here to help you feel good now, not “when.” Our pieces are handpicked for real women and real bodies—and we’ll guide you to styles that feel like you, even in the in-between. You don’t have to wait for the perfect body to wear clothes that make you feel confident.

What if boutiques make me feel uncomfortable or out of place?

Totally fair—and we’ve felt that too. Erma Jean was created to be the opposite of that. You’ll never be judged, pressured, or talked down to here. We’re warm, real, and honest—just like our clothes. Whether you walk in wearing leggings or a power suit, we’re genuinely glad to see you. We’re not here to make a sale. We’re here to make you feel seen.

What is the in-store return policy?

In-store returns on all non-final sale items purchased in-store and received within 10 days of the purchase date will be accepted for STORE CREDIT ONLY. Items must be in original condition (tags attached, not worn, used, altered, or washed). Items that appear worn, have makeup or other stains, will not be accepted. Shoes must be unworn and in their original box. (We recommend trying shoes on in a carpeted area.) We reserve the right to deny any return. If your return approved, a store credit will be issued in the form of a gift card. All sale items are final and may not be returned for any reason. Original shipping costs are non-refundable. We reserve the right to deny any return.

Are any purchases final sale?

The following items may not be returned for any reason:

  • discounted/sale items
  • accessories (jewelry, scarves, bags, hats, etc.)
  • home décor (paper goods, candles, home goods, etc.)
  • beauty (lotions, lip balms, scrubs, etc.)
  • items discounted due to imperfection/damage
How much does shipping cost?

Orders over $100 ship FREE in the U.S. For any order below $100, standard shipping (3-4 business days) is available for $6.95, and express shipping (1-2 business days) is available for $8.95. See full shipping policy!

When will I get my order?

Orders are processed and shipped via US Postal Service or UPS within 1-3 business days. (We do not ship Saturday-Monday or holidays.)

You will receive an email with order confirmation and another email when your order has been shipped. Tracking information will be included in the shipment email (please check your spam). See full shipping policy!

Do you offer in-store pickup?

Absolutely, it's easy peasy! Customers may select “Headquarters pick-up” as your shipping method. At checkout, you will receive an order confirmation email. Pick-ups are typically available within 24 hours during open business days. We will notify you via email that your order is ready for pick-up (please check your spam!).

Visit us in-store during business hours (Tuesday - Thursday 10am-5pm, Friday-Saturday 10am-4pm). If you prefer curbside pick-up, call us when you arrive at (804) 601-0524. Our location in Short Pump is at The Shoppes at West Gate, located at 11741 W Broad St., Richmond, VA 23233.

Do you offer local delivery?

Yes, we do! Short Pump, Midlothian and Moseley customers are eligible for local delivery. A $4.95 service fee will be applied to your order. We'll drop your order off at your front door in 1-2 business days and notify you. (Offer applies only to zip codes 23233, 23112, 23120.)

What range of sizes do you carry?

We carefully select our partners to ensure our products are high quality and meet a range of sizes. Some of our favorite brands run smaller or larger, allowing us to serve a range from size 0-16, XS-XL. Please refer to each product's size chart, or reach out to us with questions. We're happy to help you fint the right fit!

A styling consultation sounds expensive—what are your fees?

We offer personal styling without the pressure or fees. At Erma Jean, we come alongside our clients like trusted friends. We give honest guidance and encouragement, because we care about how you feel when you leave—not just what you buy.

Do you support community organizations with in-kind or gift card donations?

We love to support our customers and the Richmond community. At Erma Jean, we deeply value creativity, craftsmanship and learning. Building confidence is at our core, so we take donation opportunities very seriously and give preference to organizations that support these beliefs. Some organizations we may support include: community and non-profit organization fundraisers, local schools and local benefits for friends, family and customers in need.
